2016 Researching Designing Building UX/UI Individual Project
— Communication, Media & Design based in Amsterdam collaborated together with the ISGA (International Student Guide Amsterdam) so they could help new international students from around the globe to assist and let them feel home quick in the city of Amsterdam. They asked me, to create an online solution that would inform the students about all the activities and common businesses in and around the city of Amsterdam.
During this project I was the researcher and designer. My role ranged from extensive research, talking to stakeholders and gathering as much information I could find. After that I went to design low and high fidelity prototypes. I also did my own project planning and arranged feedback meetings, so I could gather feedback.

Thousands of international students come to Amsterdam every year to study. However, the municipality does not have good facilities to help the students explore the city and make them feel at home. That is why I have been asked to develop a mobile guide to help these students. My task is to develop an easy, informative application that tells enough about the city of Amsterdam.
I have built a complete digital guide that knows how to recognize all known places through an easy search. The digital guide will let the user know via GPS what sights are nearby. And if the student is in trouble, the application will also answer that. In short, the easiest source of information for students in Amsterdam.
The final prototype is completely made in HTML/CSS and is only usable on mobile devices.
The goal of the assignment was to create an easy overview. I decided based on testing to split the categories into three sub-categories to help the user reach their goal faster.
The application is fully created in HTML/CSS and is only operational for mobile devices. The coding and stylesheet is fully created by me.
The style and colors are based on the ISGA Student Book. The book uses the colors black, white and red to shape the design. The application is a direct reflection of that style.
